FTAPI is a young, up-and-coming technology company based in Munich, Germany. FTAPI is the market leader for secure data workflows and automation in German-speaking countries. Due to its growth and the resulting increase in the number of employees, the company urgently needed to adapt its working environment accordingly. With this in mind, we were commissioned as a consulting partner to design the new working environment. The aim was to create a new inspiring work experience with a feel-good factor, equipped with the latest office technology. At the heart of the project was the question of whether the new working environment could be realized in the existing space or whether a move to a new building would be more appropriate to achieve the desired transformation. Based on our detailed cost-benefit analysis and a thorough assessment of the building, FTAPI opted for the redesign within the existing premises. We held workshops with the managers to define the guidelines and vision for the project.
We conducted a detailed analysis to understand FTAPI’s specific processes, working methods, technology standards and culture, and to identify the needs of the employees. Based on these findings, our planners developed a spatial and functional programme and an initial office layout. With the active involvement of the management team and a group of user representatives, we finalized this layout and adjusted it to the needs of the employees. After around four months, we were able to present a tailored and future-proof workplace strategy, which FTAPI used to implement their new working environment. Another focus of the project was the development of a modern technology concept. Our plans included the use of a workplace app that would store each employee’s personal preferences for lighting, desk height and monitor settings and automatically activate them at the selected workstation.
Another exciting task for our team was to integrate remote workers into the new office environment. FTAPI already used an online platform for this, which we incorporated into our concept. In this way, we were able to perfectly connect the virtual space with the physical space. We have so a created the basis for a smooth hybrid collaboration that promotes dialogue between colleagues and strengthens the corporate culture.
